6/12/2023 – AARP Maryland presents PROTECT WEEK 2023

Welcome to the 553th broadcast of The Senior Zone, which aired Monday, June 12th. It’s officially the start of Protect Week in the State of Maryland, which runs from June 12th through June 16th, 2023.

During Protect Week, Marylanders will have an opportunity to learn about the many forms of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of older adults.

To kick-off Protect Week 2023 our distinguished guests are as follows:

1. Keith Custer, Supervisory Special Agent (SSA), FBI Baltimore, here to discuss the top frauds impacting seniors and how to avoid being victimized.
2. Andre Lingham, Founder/President, Center for Elder Justice and Education. Andre will share tips to caregivers and their loved ones on how to be less of a target for financial exploitation.
3. Helene Raynaud, President and CEO of CCCSMD. Helene is here to discuss what her organization does to help consumers better protect themselves and/or to get back on their feet if they have been the victim of fraud.
4. Charlie Gayle, Head of Policy and Engagement for the Office of Consumer Practices at Wells Fargo & Company. Charlie is here to discuss Tips to Protect Seniors from Elder Financial Fraud and Exploitation.
