The Senior Zone is devoted to senior citizens, their caregivers and the families who support and encourage them. The Senior Zone provides unbiased information through a variety of professional organizations and subject matter experts throughout the U.S.
ABOUT IT’S FOUNDERS
Founder, Executive Producer & Host, Shawn Perry is a retired military officer, serving nearly 22 years, in the U.S. Air Force. Working with several health insurance companies after his retirement, Shawn quickly discovered how wide the informational gap exists between the organizations providing excellent services and the Seniors they were striving to serve. So, in 2012 with no radio or journalism experience, a radio program called The Senior Zone was formed. The rest remains an evolving journey and love-affair for the elderly, frail and vulnerable.
Shawn, grew up in New York City, is a graduate of the University of Maryland in Marketing, and has lived in the Washington, DC for the past 30 years.
Co-Host, Captain Fly (aka Robert Frye) is a D.C. native who spent 20 years of decorated service with the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department, joining WPFW, 89.3FM after retiring in 1995. For the past 25 years on each Saturday morning, he hosts “The Oldies House Party,” celebrating the golden era of soul beginning in the mid-’50s and running into the ’70s. Captain Fly brings over 25 years of on-air radio experience and his regarded in the senior community throughout the DC metro area.
